Working for the Weekend

Blues:

Today's class was fantastic. You've proven beyond the shadow of a doubt that you are more than capable of handling the responsibilities of speaking and listening in an academic setting actively and with courtesy. I'm impressed, and I can't wait to brag to my colleagues at our Monday meeting.

That being said, a scholar's work is never done. This weekend you are to read and annotate chapter 15 of To Kill a Mockingbird. It's a whopper, so enjoy it. While you read/annotate, please keep today's talking points in mind:

- Look for quotes that are "worth talking about."
- Ask yourself, "Why would Harper Lee include this chapter?"
- Ask yourself, "Are there any patterns or repeated ideas/themes/feelings/questions raised in this chapter that were introduced before?"

On Monday, after we discuss the text, we will start reading the award-winning film adaptation of Harper Lee's work. So if you've never read a movie before, get ready to live.

Enjoy your weekend. We'll talk on Monday.

Work hard: luck means nothing.

- AC
