Blues:
Your homework assignment is to read and annotate chapters 2 and 3 of To Kill a Mockingbird. Remember to engage with the text: ask questions, make connections, and keep track of your thinking. In particular, consider why
Lee writes the way that she does rather than simply focusing on what's
being said. Summarizing is important, but it's not all that there is.
That
being said, PDFs of these two chapters are in our Dropbox
shared-folder, titled "TKAM Readings." Submit your work when you are
done.
On Monday you will be quizzed on these readings. In class we will be discussing point of view, so be prepared.
Lastly, I have added a link to the complete text of To Kill a Mockingbird online.
It's in the sidebar to the right of this blog post; the link is titled,
"TKAM Full Text Online." You can't annotate on the website itself, but
if you highlight portions of the text and press "speak," you can essentially have your iPad read the text to you. If you forget how to set up your iPad for this function, email me.
That's all for now. Work hard: luck means nothing
