Sub Work, Day 4

Blues:

In our "To Kill a Mockingbird" Dropbox shared-folder, you will notice a new folder titled, "TKAM Final Essay." There, you will find your final assessment for To Kill a Mockingbird. In class today, you are to write the first draft of an essay regarding Atticus' use of rhetorical appeals in his closing argument. That draft is due Friday at 5 PM.

1. That might seem like a long time, but it is not. On Wednesday you won't feel like doing anything and Thursday is Thanksgiving, so both of those days are basically shot. If you want to get this assignment done calmly and without panic, you need to make use of Tuesday's class time.

2. Don't panic: this is only the first draft.

3. Don't take it lightly: even though it's a "first draft," it still counts for a grade and, much more significantly, it establishes the groundwork for your later drafts. If you put little effort in here, you will be playing catch-up the rest of the way.

4. Don't email me with a million questions. I'm not giving you a more on purpose. Do your best to answer the question at hand. We'll talk more on Wednesday. And if for any reason I am not able to come to school on Wednesday, more instructions will be forthcoming.

Work hard: luck means nothing.
